    Boiler Room Technician

     

    Reports to: Chief Engineer

    Summary

    The primary function of the Boiler Room technician is to ensure the safe, reliable, efficient, maintenance and operation of chillers, boilers, pumps, at designated Otesaga/Leatherstocking properties.

    Boiler Room Technician job responsibilities:

    + Cleanliness and organization of boiler rooms at the Otesaga and 15 Chestnut street.

    + Cleanliness and organization of the Chiller Room at the Otesaga Hotel.

    + Utilize PPE and best practices to perform all duties in a safe manner.

    + Perform all preventative maintenance needs.

    + Perform all regularly needed testing of chemicals, and water conditions used in mechanical rooms, keep accurate records.

    + Ensure that all boilers are being maintained and operating at peak efficiency and meet all local and state regulations.

    + Perform all daily/weekly/monthly/annual checks and preventative maintenance of the boilers and chiller.

    + Apply required chemical treatments to mechanical room equipment.

    + Monitor fuel tank levels, order accordingly, keep accurate records.

    + If needed, respond to after-hours equipment failure.

    + Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, as needed.

    Additional responsibilities as requested by the Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer:

    + Swimming pool care, maintenance, chemical monitoring.

    + Respond in a courteous and timely matter to all guests’ needs anywhere on the property

    + Assist with the maintenance, repair, cleanliness, and preventative maintenance of all mechanical rooms at all properties.

     

    The above list is not all inclusive and there may often be requests that fall outside of it.

    Required Skills:

    + Keep accurate and well-organized records

    + Proper use of PPE to work safely (eyes, ears, gloves, bibs, boots etc.).

    + Familiar with using hand and power tools

    + Familiar with use of a multi meter (preferred)

    + Ability to perform accurate record keeping using standard office equipment

    + General working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC

    + The ability to work in areas where at times there may be loud noise, vibrations, risk of electrical shock, wet floors, safe movement heavy equipment.

    + Working in rooms with potential high and low temperatures.

    + Ability to work in all types of inclement weather.

    + Comfortable safely working from ladders or scaffolding.

    Education and experience:

    A high school diploma or GED. Prior knowledge of the skilled trades helpful will train the appropriate candidate.

    Work environment:

    + Ability to work in inclement weather

    + Exposure to moderate to loud noise

    + Exposure to high and low temperatures

    + Exposure to required chemicals used to maintain and treat equipment

    + Exposure to dangerous moving parts of machinery

    Physical Demands:

    + Stand or walk 2/3 of the time

    + Sit less than 1/3 of the time

    + Regular use of hands

    + Reaching often

    + Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance ½ of the time

    + Listen, talk, ¾ of the time

    + Carry/lift/push/pull up to 75 lbs
