    Description

    Our client is a highly respected nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing causes that make a positive impact on communities and society at large. As part of their mission-driven work, they rely on a reliable and dynamic finance team to ensure they maximize resources and maintain transparency. They’re seeking a Staff Accountant to support their financial operations, contributing to the success of their programs and initiatives.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Process general ledger transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

    + Prepare and post routine journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and allocations.

    + Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial records on a monthly basis to maintain accurate reporting.

    + Assist in the preparation of financial reports for leadership and external stakeholders, including funders and grantors.

    + Support budgeting efforts by tracking expenditures against allocated funding and preparing variance analyses.

    + Ensure compliance with nonprofit-specific accounting practices, including grant reporting and fund accounting.

    + Provide documentation and detailed schedules for audits or other compliance reviews.

    + Collaborate with other staff members to streamline financial workflows and improve efficiency.

    + Assist with accounts payable and receivable, as needed.

    Requirements

    + 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Familiarity with fund accounting and grants management is a bonus

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other advanced certifications are desirable but not required.

    + Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud, or Sage Intacct) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with ERP software is a plus

    + Strong understanding of GAAP principles and knowledge of nonprofit compliance standards.

    + Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
