Description We are looking for an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to oversee all financial operations and ensure the organization's fiscal health. This role involves managing budgeting processes, financial reporting, and compliance, while providing critical insights to leadership and the board. Based in Pasadena, California, this position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior leadership and the board.
• Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and identifying variances for corrective action.
• Supervise all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Collaborate with the City of Pasadena Department of Finance on specialized financial projects and reporting needs.
• Oversee audit processes, prepare management analyses, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Monitor cash flow forecasts and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets throughout the fiscal year.
• Implement and optimize automated accounting systems to meet organizational and city requirements.
• Provide financial guidance to the board and finance committees, addressing trends and operational challenges.
• Review and authorize capital expenditures and fund transfers related to organizational operations.
• Analyze and reconcile special accounts, including payroll, inventory, and contractual services. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA huge plus
• Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles.
• Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead and develop teams.
• Familiarity with Sage Accounting Software and Excel, including advanced formulas.
• Strong background in financial reporting, audits, and variance analysis.
• Experience in non-profit or hospitality finance is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences.
• Expertise in implementing and managing centralized accounting systems.
