Senior Network Engineer

Duration: 6+ months (contract)

Start Date: ASAP

Hourly Rate: $75–$100/hr (depending on experience and certifications)

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to lead and manage critical network infrastructure projects. This role requires hands-on expertise in networking, firewalls, NAC systems, automation, and monitoring tools. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, adapts quickly, and brings deep technical knowledge to deliver secure, high-performance solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Lead the design, deployment, and optimization of Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Routing, Wireless, and Voice systems.

+ Configure, manage, and troubleshoot next-generation firewalls (NGFW), including Palo Alto, Fortinet FW, FortiAnalyzer, and other NGFW platforms.

+ Implement and manage Network Access Control (NAC) solutions: Cisco ISE, Forescout, FortiNAC, ClearPass.

+ Manage Cradlepoint wireless WAN solutions.

+ Use SolarWinds and other monitoring tools for proactive performance management.

+ Develop and maintain network automation scripts using Python and Terraform.

+ Ensure best practices for network security, UTM systems, and compliance are followed.

+ Collaborate with teams to meet business objectives and technical requirements.

+ Document network architecture, policies, and procedures.

+ Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

+ Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, Routing, Wireless, and Voice.

+ Strong experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet FW, FortiAnalyzer, and other next-generation firewall appliances.

+ Expertise in NAC systems: Cisco ISE, Forescout, FortiNAC, ClearPass.

+ Experience with Cradlepoint devices and configurations.

+ Proficiency in SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools.

+ Automation and scripting experience using Python and Terraform.

+ Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills.

+ Strong communication abilities, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

+ Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding or supervision.

Requirements

Education & Certifications (Highly Preferred)

+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

+ Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher (e.g., CCIE).

+ Relevant certifications in UTM, next-generation firewall, or NAC technologies.
