    Our client is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. Their mission-driven work inspires growth, collaboration, and transformational change. As their operations grow, they’re seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team and ensure employees are compensated accurately and fairly, which is vital for furthering their commitment to excellence and their mission.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll best practices.

    + Handle payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations specific to nonprofit operations.

    + Verify and reconcile employee timekeeping data, including overtime, paid leave, and deductions.

    + Process payroll-related activities such as benefits deductions, garnishments, tax deductions, and direct deposits.

    + Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies, in alignment with organizational policies.

    + Prepare payroll reports, assist with audits, and maintain proper documentation of payroll processes.

    + Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to identify areas for payroll procedure improvements and implement solutions that enhance accuracy and compliance.

    Requirements

    + Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience; nonprofit payroll experience is preferred

    + High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.

    + Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar credential is a plus.

    + Excellent proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday).

    + Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)

    + Strong understanding of payroll practices, tax laws, and nonprofit regulatory requirements.

    + Familiarity with nonprofit-specific benefits, such as 403(b) plans.

    + Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
