Our client is a leading property management organization in San Diego, CA, with a focus on providing high-quality real estate maintenance, leasing, and associated services. Committed to professionalism and operational excellence, the company is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. Primary Job Responsibilities:
+ Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
+ Prepare and review account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, fixed asset schedules, and intercompany accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
+ Assist in managing the month-end close process by preparing financial statements and adjusting entries.
+ Generate and analyze financial reports to support decision-making and present findings to management.
+ Work closely with property management teams to monitor expenses, budgets, and tenant billing. Ensure all income, such as rent and fees, is recorded accurately.
+ Support internal and external audits by preparing requested schedules and maintaining accurate documentation.
+ Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal guidelines, including specific property management regulatory requirements.
+ Identify opportunities to streamline processes and recommend strategies to improve accounting operations.
Requirements
+ 2–3 years of general accounting experience; prior experience in property management accounting or real estate is strongly preferred
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Candidates with progress toward CPA certification will be highly regarded.
+ Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio) or general accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
+ High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.
+ Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting best practices.
+ Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are crucial for working across teams.
