    To provide customer service to the public regarding permit application and issuance. This is accomplished by assisting customers in the application process, receiving and checking in applications, assessing and accepting payments, issuing permits, entering contractor and permit information, voiding permits, processing paperwork for credits and refunds, interacting with customers to resolve problems, and interacting with state licensing boards regarding contractor information. Other duties include filing paperwork, rolling building plans for micro filming, answering technical questions related to licensing requirements for permits and other state laws, and accompanying inspectors in the field.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    + Provides support in the permit application process by ensuring customers include necessary information; assessing fees and accepting and logging payments; logging in building permit applications; determining review sign-offs and CO sign-offs; instructing customers on follow-up procedures; preparing jobsite placards and plans for building permits; notifying the contractor/homeowner that their building permit is ready; ensuring that the homeowner/contractor is aware of their compliance responsibilities; and confirming contractor registration with the state licensing board.

    + Provides clerical support by entering approved data for permits including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, signs, and fire prevention; voiding permits; entering credit or refund information; entering data for new contractors; updating information for existing contractors; processing payments and fees; answering incoming calls; placing calls; making copies; faxing documents; filing voids, credits, applications, plans, and completed permits; and rolling up building plans to be micro-filmed.

     

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

     

    + High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).

    + Three years of related clerical/administrative support experience.

     

    Additional Preferred Skills

     

    + ICC Permit Technician Certification or Building Level I Certification

    + Proficient in Spanish

    + Experience with an Inspections Department
