Description

Robert Half is seeking a meticulous and reliable Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations and ensure accuracy of employee compensation. This critical role involves processing payroll transactions, maintaining compliance with regulations, and providing expert-level customer service to employees and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and comfortable working with payroll systems in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

+ Maintain and manage payroll data including employee hours, wages, deductions, and bonuses.

+ Process regular payroll cycles (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) with high accuracy and timeliness.

+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including proper tax filings and deductions.

+ Process wage garnishments, child support orders, and other payroll adjustments.

+ Reconcile payroll accounts, verify discrepancies, and collaborate with accounting teams for resolution.

+ Prepare and distribute W-2s, 1099s, and other payroll-related documentation.

+ Respond promptly to employee payroll inquiries, including earnings, deductions, and benefits questions.

+ Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to implement payroll changes and employee updates.

+ Stay informed of changes in payroll laws and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.

Requirements

+ 2-5 years of payroll processing experience. Experience with multi-state payroll is highly desirable.

+ Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred.

+ Proficiency in payroll systems such as ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Workday, or similar platforms. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables) preferred.

+ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus but not required.

+ Exceptional organizational abilities, attention to detail, ability to meet strict deadlines, and strong problem-solving skills.
