Description
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team in Fayetteville, Arkansas. In this permanent position, you will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations for a portfolio of shopping centers within the real estate and property industry. This opportunity is ideal for professionals experienced in property management accounting and familiar with software tools such as AppFolio or Yardi.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee all property accounting tasks, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Manage lease accounting responsibilities, such as tenant billing, percentage rent calculations, and reconciliation of operating expenses.
• Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as part of the month-end closing process.
• Generate accurate financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis for property owners, tenants, and management.
• Utilize property management software like AppFolio or Yardi to maintain accurate records and streamline accounting workflows.
• Maintain tenant ledgers, addressing and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Assist in the development and preparation of operating and capital budgets for managed properties.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit standards, and real estate regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial analysis and reporting needs.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
• Proficiency in property management software such as AppFolio or Yardi Voyager.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with lease accounting practices, tenant billing, and operating expense reconciliations is preferred.
• Knowledge of shopping center lease terms and percentage rent calculations is a plus.
