Dawoud Kazimee with Robert Half is looking for a skilled Finance Director to oversee the financial operations of the city in Dayton, Oregon. This role involves managing the city’s full cycle accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial controls, and collaborating with the City Manager and an external accounting firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and leadership experience to guide administrative staff and maintain efficient financial practices.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the city’s financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grant accounting.

• Manage the month-end close process and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

• Reconcile accounts and maintain the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

• Collaborate with the City Manager and external accounting firm to implement and maintain robust financial controls.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making.

• Conduct audits and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

• Supervise and provide guidance to two administrative staff members, fostering a productive work environment.

• Develop and refine financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Take initiative to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions effectively.

Requirements • A minimum of five years of full cycle accounting experience, preferably in government or non-profit settings.

• Associate degree in Accounting or higher educational qualification.

• Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and general ledger reconciliation.

• Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and journal entries.

• Demonstrated ability to create and improve financial processes.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage and mentor staff.

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
