Systems Engineer
Duration: 6+ months (contract)
Start Date: ASAP
Hourly Rate: $60–$85/hr (depending on experience and certifications)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with strong expertise in Windows systems administration, virtualization, backups, cloud services, and enterprise infrastructure. This role supports a highly virtualized environment, providing end-to-end systems engineering, troubleshooting, and administration. The ideal candidate is technically versatile, adaptable, and able to contribute effectively with minimal onboarding. This is an onsite role initially, transitioning to a hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
+ Administer Active Directory (on-prem / Azure AD), including AD Trusts, ADCS, and Group Policy.
+ Manage Cisco UCS Converged/Hyperconverged Infrastructure using Intersight.
+ Perform daily Windows Systems Administration: configuration, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
+ Build and implement Windows Servers, including migrations to Windows Server 2022/2025.
+ Administer Mimecast email security and Microsoft Exchange environments.
+ Manage Microsoft M365/O365/Purview.
+ Administer Veeam Backup and Recovery, including integration with Cisco UCS and Pure Storage SAN systems.
+ Administer Microsoft SQL Server (high availability, cluster management).
+ Manage VMware environments.
+ Provide Azure cloud services support and perform patch management (Windows, Linux, Windows applications).
+ Lead business application and server incident management, monitoring, and break/fix activities.
+ Support disaster recovery processes, workflows, and systems.
+ Perform deployments, upgrades, and maintain documentation.
+ Work with MDM tools like Intune and Kandji.
+ Develop and use PowerShell scripts for automation.
+ Administer SCOM (System Center Operations Manager) and SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager).
+ Provide data center support: racking, installation, configuration, cable management, UPS/PDU monitoring.
+ Administer web services including IIS, Tomcat, WordPress.
+ Work with Network Access Control (NAC) technologies.
+ Write and maintain clear technical documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
+ 4+ years of experience in Systems Administration and Systems Engineering.
+ Strong expertise in Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, and cloud services.
+ Experience with backup/recovery, SQL Server administration, MDM tools, and scripting with PowerShell.
+ Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication skills, including technical documentation writing.
+ Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to a dynamic environment.
Requirements
Education & Certifications (Highly Preferred)
+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
+ Microsoft Certifications: Fundamentals, Associate, Expert, MCSE, MCSD, MCSA.
+ ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation.
+ Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE).
+ VMware Certifications: VCTA, VCP, VCAP, VCDX.
+ Pure Storage: Associate or Professional.
