Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to oversee and optimize financial operations within our real estate management business. This role requires a strategic thinker who can ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in accounting processes while supporting audits and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial reporting and general ledger management to drive organizational success.

Responsibilities:

+ Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for joint ventures and operating properties.

+ Review and approve journal entries and supporting documentation.

+ Oversee account reconciliations and financial analyses for areas such as cash, investments, and equity, identifying and resolving issues.

+ Analyze income statement fluctuations at period-end, focusing on changes in operating revenue and expenses.

+ Ensure timely and accurate reporting of joint venture performance on a regular basis.

+ Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP and/or fair value standards for joint ventures.

+ Lead year-end audit and tax activities, coordinating with external auditors and the internal tax team.

+ Conduct technical accounting research and apply findings to practical business solutions.

+ Provide ongoing financial and operational support to internal teams including Asset Management, Property Operations, Sales, FP& A, and Legal.

+ Supervise and develop staff through goal setting, training, performance management, and relationship building.

Requirements

+ Over 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities; public accounting or U.S. public company experience preferred.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; advanced degree a plus. CPA certification preferred.

+ Extensive experience in real estate accounting, particularly in property-level and joint venture reporting; background in REITs, private equity, or real estate funds is highly valued.

+ Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and SOX compliance.

+ Skilled in real estate accounting systems; Yardi experience is a plus.

+ Proven ability to prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and conduct financial analysis.

+ Experienced in technical accounting research and application.

+ Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

+ Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; quick to learn and adapt.

+ Advanced Excel skills required, with regular use of complex spreadsheets.
