Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with Non-Profit or Municipality experience. This role involves managing financial operations related to federal grants, loan programs, and departmental budgets while ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and review grant transactions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funding requirements.
• Stay updated on relevant federal regulations, audit standards, and local policies through ongoing development and training.
• Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets and spending plans by forecasting revenue, projecting salaries and benefits, and estimating fund carryovers.
• Handle accounting tasks for disbursements and cash receipts related to various grant programs.
• Prepare annual program budgets for federal and local grant-funded initiatives, ensuring accuracy and proper allocation of funds.
• Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to non-financial staff to support informed decision-making.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain accurate records and reconcile accounts.
• Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure timely month-end close processes.
• Maintain oversight of loan and grant programs, including compliance with financial administration requirements.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience in grant accounting and financial administration.
• Proficiency in month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of federal regulations and compliance standards for grant management.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
