    POSITION:  Maintenance & Sanitation Technician

     

    DEPARTMENT:  Logistics / Transportation

     

    REPORTS TO:  Transportation Maintenance Shop Foreman

     

    CLASSIFICATION:  Full-time or part-time position (dependent on the current need of the company)

     

    POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the delivery equipment sanitation program for Select Genetics – Logistics and Transportation. Duty hours in 5 variable days as required, 7:00AM – 5:00PM (South Division as needed Monday through Saturday)

    + Possess understanding of the poultry industry and company role in production

    + Follow all specified operational and safety procedures of the company

    KEY TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Operate as a Non-CDL driver in operating equipment through the yard, washbay, and maintenance shop floor (operation of equipment contingent on successful training completion and limited to company-owned property and grounds

    + Hot water washout and rinse of breeder, poult, and egg delivery equipment

    + Additional sanitation of breeder, poult, and egg delivery equipment as required

    + Monitor the serviceability of poult trailer filters and change out as required

    + Check for proper installation and serviceability of trailer environmental data recording devices.  Report deficiencies to Shop Foreman for required repairs

    + Conduct weekly inventories of required on-hand sanitation supplies (soap, Virocid, BioGel, Decon 7, Zep-a-Lume) and report product needs to Shop Foreman for immediate stock replenishment

    + Conduct daily serviceability inspections on sanitation equipment to ensure proper operation (spray wands, hoses, ramps, respirators, PPE).  Report deficiencies to Shop Foreman for immediate repair or replacement

    + Assist in the implementation of weekly diagnostic specimen collection (air plates, blood plates, AGAR plating, swabbing) as needed.  Process specimens for immediate transport to the nearest company diagnostic laboratory

    QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Does not own or operate around backyard poulty operations off duty

    + Experience with cleaning chemicals preferred

    + Must be able to stand, bend, squat, reach, grasp, push, and pull for extended periods of time.  Limited climbing is required.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs short distances
