    Jacobs is seeking a Wastewater Laboratory / Plant Operator to work at our wastewater facility and collections system based in Prescott Valley, AZ. You’ll work with project staff and supervision to assist in the daily operations activities as well as operating a WWTP Laboratory, WWTP, Collections System and Reclaimed System to provide superior client service, ensure timely completion of all activities, effectively schedule work to drive optimized resource utilization, establish and maintaining efficient progress metrics and tracking tool and provide technical support as needed.

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • Experience in a Laboratory Environment and in collecting / processing samples.

    • Must be detail oriented and keep excellent documentation.

    • ADEQ Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment certification or the ability to acquire in a year.

    • Experience in a Wastewater Treatment Plant environment or other safety sensitive related field.

    • Must be able to follow written procedures.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite as well as Data Collection and Entry.

    • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions

    Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

    • ADEQ Grade 1 Wastewater Collections license

    • Possess experience coordinating activities with operational needs and evaluating project policies and objectives

    • Diagnose malfunctions and determine effective courses of action for correcting them

    • Support assets review and condition assessment efforts

    • Gain necessary system knowledge to develop and update thorough capital improvement plans

    • Perform heavy manual labor when needed

    • Keep records and prepare routine and special reports

    • Maintain equipment in sewage treatment plant: bar screening, grit handling systems, primary and secondary clarifiers, UV disinfection, aeration basins and blowers, belt filter presses, polymer mix systems, associated pumps (positive displacement, centrifugal, chemical, metering)

    • Develop, implement, and enforce compliance and safety regulations and procedures

    • Provide training for less experienced employees

    Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

    The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

     

    Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. Must be able to transport self across the facility and infrequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
