Description
Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Student Recruitment: Collaborate with the admissions team to develop and implement effective strategies to attract potential graduate healthcare students. Participate in recruitment events, both on and off-campus, such as college fairs, conferences, and information sessions, to engage with prospective students and promote the university's graduate programs.
+ Application Evaluation: Review and evaluate applications for admission, assess candidate academic qualifications, professional experience, and personal statements to determine their suitability for the programs. Ensure that all applications are processed accurately and within specified timelines.
+ Advising and Counseling: Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students. Provide accurate and comprehensive information about the graduate programs, admission requirements, financial aid options, and career opportunities. Offer guidance and support to students throughout the admissions process, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
+ Interviews and Presentations: Conduct interviews, either in person or via video conferencing, with prospective students to assess their motivation, goals, and fit with the university's programs. Deliver informative and persuasive presentations about the graduate programs to individuals or groups of students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
+ Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, alumni, industry professionals, and healthcare organizations. Collaborate with these individuals and organizations to enhance the visibility and reputation of ATSU programs and attract potential students
+ Data Management: Maintain accurate records of prospective student interactions, application status, and admission decisions using appropriate software systems. Prepare reports and statistical analysis related to admissions data, enrollment trends, and other metrics as required by the university administration.
+ Enrollment Support: Collaborate with other university departments, such as financial aid, academic advising, and student affairs, to ensure a smooth transition for admitted students. Assist with enrollment activities, including registration, orientation, and other events designed to facilitate the successful onboarding of new graduate students.
+ Admissions Process Management: An Admissions Counselor is responsible for managing the admissions process for graduate-level healthcare programs. This includes reviewing applications, verifying eligibility criteria, and ensuring all required documentation is submitted.
+ Applicant Support: Admissions Counselors provide guidance and support to prospective students throughout the application process. They may answer inquiries, provide information about program requirements, and assist with completing application forms.
+ Application Evaluation: Admissions Counselors assess applicant qualifications based on predetermined criteria, such as academic records, test scores, and personal statements. They evaluate applications to determine whether candidates meet the program's requirements and assess their potential for success.
+ Interviews and Assessments: In some cases, Admissions Counselors conduct interviews or assessments with applicants to evaluate their suitability for the program. These interactions may involve evaluating communication skills, motivation, and alignment with the program's goals.
+ Decision Making: Based on the evaluation of applications, interviews, and assessments, counselors participate in the decision-making process for admissions. They recommend applicants for acceptance or rejection, considering factors such as program capacity, academic qualifications, and program fit.
+ Admission Events and Outreach: Counselors may participate in campus events, such as open houses, information sessions, and recruitment fairs. They engage with prospective students, answer questions, and provide information about the program and its benefits, as well as assisting with new student orientation and commencement.
+ Enrollment Support: Once applicants are accepted, counselors assist with the enrollment process, providing information on next steps, deadlines, and required documentation. They may also help students navigate financial aid options or connect them with relevant resources.
+ Record Keeping and Reporting: It is essential for counselors to maintain accurate records of applicant information, decisions, and communication. They may also be responsible for generating reports on admissions statistics, applicant demographics, and other relevant data.
+ Collaboration: Admissions Counselors often collaborate with other staff members, such as faculty, administrators, and other admissions professionals. They work together to improve admissions processes, evaluate program needs, and ensure a smooth transition for admitted students.
+ Stay Updated: Admissions requirements and processes may change over time. Counselors should stay updated on industry trends, program updates, and changes in regulations to ensure compliance and provide accurate information to applicants.
Requirements
+ Bachelor's degree required.
+ Prefer, but not limited to, candidates to have higher education working experience in either admissions, financial aid, advising, student affairs, or recruitment.
+ Should be comfortable speaking to large groups, have sufficient skills with MS Office Suite and CRM platforms. Many meetings and advisements may be virtual, so moderate experience with Zoom or other virtual platforms is a plus.
+ Organization/time management.
+ Must work well with diverse groups.
+ Communication skills.
+ Travels well.
