    Job Summary

    Join Baytown’s Parks & Recreation team as our next Promotions Coordinator, where you’ll design, develop, implement, and track effective promotions for community events like farmers markets, music festivals, children’s activities, and public facilities. You’ll lead digital and print campaigns, manage social media content, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and ensure consistent branding and timely delivery of ads and collateral. If you're a creative self-starter with strong organizational skills, a bachelor’s in marketing/communications, and experience in event promotion, come help us elevate Baytown’s community experiences!

     

    As a representative of the City, the Promotions Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and marketing Baytown by designing, developing, implementing and tracking tourism and recreation marketing activities including special events including farmers markets, music festivals, children activities, corporate events, charity events, water park events, and leisure programming. This position creates Parks and Recreation promotional materials, advertisement and internet content and collateral, and manages all advertising and marketing for Baytown tourism efforts. We are looking for a team member who is enthusiastic, organized, and who can work independently as well as in a team setting.

    Duties

    + Develops and posts marketing campaigns primarily on the city’s web site, Facebook and other social media platforms. Searches for other potential advertising channels to promote our services and events. Interfaces with traditional media sales reps (radio, newspaper) to occasionally start marketing campaigns.

    + Manages all advertising and marketing for Baytown tourism efforts including selecting the appropriate medium such as newspapers, magazines, specialty vendors. Creates and follows through on marketing plans and promotional materials; assesses and analyzes response to visitor inquiries. Plans marketing strategies for the benefit of local hotel and tourist attraction industries; develops methods and identifies marketing opportunities in local and regional markets.

    + Works with outside vendors to ensure marketing material is accurate and produced according to specifications. Ensures inventory and deadlines are adhered to by these vendors.

    + Responsible for processing of invoices related to marketing items. Monitors and maintains the marketing budget to ensure services and requests are within budget specifications across all programs and events.

    + Assists in the development and execution of special events and programs as needed.

    + Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required:

    + Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or institution in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, Recreation, Tourism and Parks Administration, or a related field.

    + Effective oral and written communication skills.

    + Working Knowledge of Adobe and Canva Design Software.

    + Intermediate to advanced experience with social media applications.

    + Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

    OR

    + An equivalent combination of education, experience, certification and/or licenses sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

    Preferred:

    + Master’s Degree from an accredited college or institution, or Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.

    + Three years of experience in any of the required related fields.

    + Experience posting digital marketing campaigns (Meta Business Suite/Ads Manager, Google Adwords).

    + Experience with email marketing platforms (Aweber, Constant Contact, Mail Chimp).

    + Experience working with Volunteers.

    + Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or American Sign Language.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

     

    Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff as well managing accounts of clients. Ability to move quickly and efficiently from project to project and remain flexible in regards to work availability. Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public. Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
