    Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an experienced Microwave/Radiometry Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development of a microwave remote sensing instrument at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The selected candidate will work closely with NASA scientists and engineers to design, analyze, and prototype antenna systems optimized for L-band radiometry.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Lead the design and simulation of high-performance antennas and RF front-end components for L-band passive microwave sensing.

    + Perform electromagnetic modeling and analysis to evaluate antenna performance metrics, including gain, beamwidth, polarization purity, and cross-talk.

    + Support integration of antenna subsystems with radiometer electronics and mechanical structures.

    + Contribute to trade studies, requirements development, and design reviews in coordination with the broader sensor development team.

    + Assist in laboratory testing, calibration, and characterization of antenna prototypes.

    + Document designs, test results, and analysis in technical reports and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in microwave radiometry, RF and antenna design, with demonstrated expertise in L-band systems.

    + Proficiency with simulation tools.

    + Experience with antenna prototyping and test equipment (e.g., network analyzers, anechoic chambers).

    + Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

    Desired Qualifications:

    + 10+ years experience supporting NASA or similar government remote sensing missions.

    + Familiarity with radiometer system architecture and calibration methods.

    + Experience working in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams for spaceflight or airborne instrument development.

    + U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status (due to government contract requirements).
