    As a skilled laborer, you will assist electricians and other crew members in the installation of electrical systems and components. Duties include working with tools, installing conduit, wire, junction boxes, electrical lighting and other labor activities as assigned. Must keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion, maintain a clean work area at all times, demonstrate safe work habits and exhibit proper care of all tools and equipment.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    1. Proceed with the process of learning the electrical trade

    2. Bend and install conduit systems and pull wire

    3. Install light fixtures and connect to branch power

    4. Perform other activity as instructed by the foreman/crew leader

    5. Gather and transport required tools and materials to their assigned work areas

    6. Provide assistance (electrician helper) to more skilled workers involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components.

    7. Learn and retain specific job-related tasks that are taught by more skilled employees

    8. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.

    9. Perform work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts

    10. Must be a team player

    11. Be dependable and prompt when scheduled to work

    12. Practice safe working habits as directed by the Safety Program

    13. Maintain the required hand tools

    14. Moving materials to the worksite and ensuring all tools, machinery, and other equipment are safely set up

    15. Operating equipment like drills, pneumatic hammers, shovels, and other heavy machinery

    16. Comply with health and safety requirements and company policies

    17. Removing hazardous materials from sites

    18. Spreading gravel, asphalt, and other materials over surfaces

    19. Performing site and equipment inspections

    20. Complete on-the-job training

    21. Assist with composite cleanup as needed

    Qualifications

    Position Qualifications

    Education, Training and Certifications

    1. High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent studies

    2. Minimum of one year of previous electrical work experience required

    Working Conditions

    1. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (Hard hat, vest, protective eye wear, safety boots.)

    2. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, often exposed to the natural elements of cold, heat, moisture, and wind.

    3. Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.

    4. Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements and background screening process

    Abilities:

    1. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.

    2. Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.

    3. Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.

    4. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

    5. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.

    6. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

    7. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

    8. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

    9. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

    10. See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

    11. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
