Position Description
The mission of the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Office of Family Safety is to increase victim safety and offender accountability, reduce homicides due to IPV, and providing vital crisis intervention services to victims of interpersonal violence while maintaining the emotional wellness of service providers. This is a 3-year grant funded, non-Civil Service position at the Office of Family Safety (OFS). This position will be part of OFS’s mission by providing technical assistance for the operation and/or implementation of domestic violence fatality review or other high-risk teams throughout the state of Tennessee, assisting with statewide training, facilitating the Statewide Fatal and High-Risk Domestic Violence Committee including committee reports, and supporting Nashville’s fatality review teamwork.

Typical Duties
Partner Coordination & Collaborative Team Building
+ Assist with the coordination and outputs of the Nashville’s Domestic Assault Death Review Team
+ Assist with the coordination and outputs of Nashville’s Suspicious Death Team, including review of overdoses, suicides, and accidental deaths of decedents in Davidson County with a history of domestic violence
+ Work with partner agencies in fatality review including the Medical Examiner’s Office, METRO Nashville Police Department, and others to ensure a collaborative focus for fatality victims of interpersonal violence
+ Act as a liaison with all jurisdictions across the state interested or active in developing fatality review or high-risk teams, particularly those with Family Justice Centers.
+ Meet with CCR coordinators across the state to assess their need for TA around high-risk projects
+ Provide technical assistance in the operation or development of Fatality Review or High-Risk Teams in person or remotely to interested jurisdictions or active teams. The FRC will model homicide review techniques and provide technical assistance to a variety of rural and urban communities across TN
+ Facilitate quarterly meetings of the Statewide Fatal and High-Risk Domestic Violence Committee, ensure that the Committee continues to follow national best practices for statewide case review and create annual recommendation reports
+ Assist communities in identifying victims at high risk for domestic violence homicide and help to ensure that jurisdictions are prepared to meet the needs of these victims to reduce the incidence of domestic abuse and domestic abuse-related deaths across the state
+ The FRC will conduct site visits and/or provide remote support as needed to provide communities with information around fatality review and high-risk teams
Training & Technical Assistance
+ The FRC will evaluate and provide ongoing training and support to Tennessee’s CCR leadership and local FJCs on fatality and high-risk case review
+ Plan and coordinate statewide trainings on fatality or other relevant high-risk domestic violence topics to assist with fatality team development and sustainability
+ Develop and deliver trainings and supporting materials on fatality review and high-risk teams as needed, in order to assist communities in identifying domestic violence victims at high risk of homicide and to identify improved procedures, laws, and protocols to reduce domestic violence deaths
+ Develop and support the work and outputs of the Statewide Committee
+ Create toolkits focusing on post-incident response, high-risk team formation, high-risk docket review, and other topics as needed
Data
+ Collect and analyze data for domestic violence fatalities across the state in order to identify improved procedures, laws, and protocols to reduce the incidence of domestic abuse and domestic abuse-related deaths across the state.
+ Track the status and progress of past recommendations from Nashville’s Fatality Review Team, as well as Statewide efforts, and explore possible avenues for implementation
Supervision
+ Assist with training and supervision of high-risk interns
Research & Writing
+ Research existing programs and best practices
+ Research special topics and their intersections with domestic violence fatality
+ Author informative documents, reports, policies, and protocols as needed
Minimum Qualifications
+ Willingness to travel- This position will include in-state travel
+ Strong leadership and collaborative team building experience
+ Strong training/facilitation experience and skills
+ Strong administrative skills with Microsoft program (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
+ Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and effective intervention strategies
+ Demonstrated ability and willingness to engage in positive collaboration with individuals and groups with diverse perspectives
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Background check
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred, but not required
+ Problem solver, highly efficient, and detail-oriented
+ Experience working on domestic violence, sexual assault or related issues
+ Experience with data management and analytics
+ Experience working in or with both non-profits and the criminal justice system
+ Experience working with multidisciplinary teams/collaboratives
+ Experience working under and reporting on grants
Full-time, Civil Service positions -
