Position Summary
The Preventative Maintenance Technician - Lead is responsible for maintenance and care for all production assets at Commerce, CA. The role provides support to daily Prose Operations by guiding, coaching, and facilitating junior technicians in maintenance-related tasks. In addition, this position will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving live production related issues.
Equipment setup (assembly, tear down and troubleshooting). - 40% (will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving live production related issues)
Process development and Project work - 20%
Preventative maintenance - 20%
Inventory management - 10%
Coaching junior technicians and coordinating projects with direct supervisor. - 10%
Key Responsibilities
+ + Works with Operations leadership team to guide and monitor day-to-day executional maintenance tasks for the maintenance team. Tasks will include coordinating production/machine set-up, corrective and preventive maintenance, and parts inventory.
+ Ability to respond quickly and effectively to minimize line downtime and production interruptions. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for root cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software systems. Comfortable making temporary fixes while developing long-term solutions that enhance reliability and uptime.
+ Communicates with direct supervisor on execution of work orders, trends in downtime/equipment breakdowns, process improvement etc..
+ Example of equipment:
+ Automated filling, capping and labeling machines
+ planetary centrifugal mixers,
+ label printers
+ pumps
+ etc..
+ Conduct periodic maintenance checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
+ Troubleshoot, log, and repair unplanned downtime events related to equipment.
+ Complete maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
+ Create and maintain an asset log for all production equipment utilizing a CMMS system. (computers, mixers, scanners, etc)
+ Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum uptime.
+ Train production staff on proper handling and use of equipment.
+ Fill out a daily shift log of completed and pending tasks to facilitate communication between shifts.
+ Periodically report to leadership potential downtime issues.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
+ Technical degree or certification with hands-on experience with automated manufacturing equipment, especially in the cosmetics, personal care, Food and Beverage, High Speed Automation lines, or pharmaceutical industries.
+ Strong understanding of robotics systems (e.g., robotic arms for capping, filling, labeling) and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
+ Proficiency with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
+ Experience with sensors, actuators, conveyors, and servo systems in high-speed production environments.
+ Familiarity with vision systems, often used for fill-level checks, label placement, or defect detection.
+ Strong familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft Suite of products (Word, Excel) and navigating computer file management systems is a must.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, LOTO procedures, and cGMP or FDA regulations, especially relevant in skin/hair care manufacturing.
+ Experience with cleanroom or hygienic environments is a plus.
+ Physically capable of lifting ~50 lbs.
+ Flexible with availability to accommodate business needs.
+ Familiarity with label template management software (Codesoft, Bartender) preferred.

In California, the anticipated base salary range for this role is $29.00 - $31.00/hour annually. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills. This role will be an in-office position based out of our Commerce, CA office and the expectation is that this person will be in the office for all scheduled shifts.
