As part of the Global Formulation Development function, theFormulation Development Chemist (Research Scientist I) willconduct formulation development activities with a focus on seed treatment products. This role will support the advancement of lab activities for the development, registration and manufacture of new formulations for Crop Protection as well as provide support for existing product portfolio.

As a Formulation Development Chemist (Research Scientist I), you create chemistry by...

+ Scheduling and executing work on solutions within Seed Treatment formulation R&D programs, both global and regional developments, to maintain project timelines. Integrating technical and non-technical factors that influence project outcomes. Contributing to innovation, writing and presenting effectively to communicate ideas/proposals, results and recommendations at group level and function level.

+ Supporting the manufacturing community for industrialization of new/existing seed treatment product portfolio. Contributing to technical reports (e.g., R&D Formulation Manufacturing Manuals), which will serve as the basis of Global product manufacturing. Supporting global commercial product support during the life cycle of products.

+ Supporting scale-up and manufacturing launch of the developed seed treatment products globally (including, e.g., US, Canada, Brazil, China, Australia, APE region). Providing support for FFP manufacturing plant trial (often regional plants in APN region – internal as well as tolling site locations).

+ Ensuring the compliance of regulated activities (e.g. EHS) in line with BASF Corp guidelines, Federal and State laws

If you have...

+ B.S. in scientific discipline such as chemistry or biology with 3+ years of hands-on practical industry experience in an R&D environment;M.S. in a scientific discipline such as chemistry or biology with 1+ years of practical industry experience

+ Formulation Development experience, preferably in Crop Protection (related industries are acceptable)

+ Knowledge of formulation technologies (suspension concentrates, emulsions, solutions) based on practical use of physical chemistry properties and methods

+ Demonstrated record of achievement for formulation research and development from discovery to commercialization phases

+ Skilled in polymer science, physical chemistry or colloidal chemistry

+ Know-how in the areas of adjuvants and surfactants

+ Proven ability to lead, plan, coordinate and complete research projects with cross-functional teams

+ Track record of generating new innovation and application of cutting-edge technology

+ Serious safety focus, attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skills

+ Mechanical aptitude and some knowledge of engineering principles
