    Job Title: Bilingual PhlebotomistJob Description

     

    We are seeking a Bilingual Phlebotomist with over two years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills are essential, along with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination procedures.

    + Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods, such as urine or fecal, as required.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

    + Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

    + Package specimens for transport and store sample specimens according to required temperatures.

    + Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them.

    + Follow procedures outlined by specific protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum of one year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    + Expertise in blood collection, processing, and data entry.

    + Ability to draw blood using straight needles.

    + Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in outpatient phlebotomy settings.

    + Proficiency in venipuncture techniques.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a new Patient Service Center (PSC) located in Lower Manhattan, handling 30 to 50 patients daily, with occasional peak days reaching up to 60 patients. The work schedule includes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am to 5pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 8am to 5:30pm, and every other Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
