Job Title: Materials Testing TechnicianJob Description
This Test Technician position is ideal for candidates with 1–3 years of experience in material testing. After a training period, the role involves performing quality control tests on construction materials—including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel—similar to those conducted by a Testing Technician. All work is performed in a laboratory setting and scheduled by the Testing Manager or the Supervisors of Field and/or Laboratory Testing. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word are required. Training is provided.
Responsibilities
+ Perform quality control tests on construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
+ Provide clear documentation of observations.
+ Follow safety rules and practices to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Maintain quality standards throughout the testing process.
Essential Skills
+ 1–3 years of experience in material testing.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
+ Background in construction materials testing, earth science, or related fields.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in concrete testing, construction materials testing, and concrete inspection.
+ Familiarity with construction inspection and documentation processes.
Work Environment
The laboratory, located in Niles, MI, features new equipment and is part of a growing and expanding operation. The position is structured for approximately 40 hours per week, with schedules that may fluctuate based on project demands.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
