Job Title: Construction Inspector

Job Description

As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for performing daily inspections of construction projects to ensure quality and compliance with building codes, construction drawings, and project specifications. This role may involve inspecting various disciplines, such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing. You will conduct visual and physical inspections, perform field testing, prepare inspection reports, and document observations and material testing results. Effective communication with engineers or project managers is essential, as is collaborating with project teams to address potential issues while adhering to strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

+ Perform testing, observation, and inspection to determine compliance with contract specifications.

+ Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

+ Provide clear documentation of findings and results.

+ Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance.

+ Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.

+ Communicate information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed.

+ Interact with clients and site personnel to resolve findings.

+ Assist Project Manager in developing scope for testing and inspection services.

+ Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with Project, Department, and/or Office Managers.

+ Maintain equipment operation and assist lead inspectors on large, complex projects.

+ Follow safety rules and practices and report any safety issues to management.

+ Ensure quality standards are maintained on all projects.

Essential Skills

+ 3+ years of experience as a WABO certified construction inspector in Structural Steel and Bolting (SSB) and Structural Welding (SW).

+ AWS CWI Certification.

+ Experience with commercial construction projects.

+ Proficiency in using UT, ACI testing methods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Work Environment

The work environment involves active construction sites requiring adherence to safety standards and practices. The role may involve interaction with project managers, engineers, clients, and site personnel. Inspectors are expected to maintain and operate equipment efficiently and may assist senior inspectors on complex projects.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
