This role is on the Operational Controls Program (OCP). The OCP is a newly created team under the Global Risk & Security division . The program i s a multi-year effort that will identify process risks and controls for high and critical processes, plus recommendations to strengthen management of processes and enhance the internal control infrastructure to drive a more effective overall operating environment throughout Vanguard . This program is a multi-year effort and is fast paced with high visibility .
The Methodology Advisor role is on the Methodology & Reporting team that is responsible for the internal control framework and methodology , control health reporting, liaising with the risk/controls/compliance teams, target state governance and oversight approach, and target state organizational structure and operating model.
Core Responsibilities
1. Build s , evolves , and maintain s controls methodology (e.g., defining control and process ownership , describing issue management approach , devising key report guidance ) . Contributes expertise to inform the target state oversight approach and framework.
2. Provides insight on best practices and common obstacles based on prior experiences. Serves as a trusted advisor to ensure methodology-related initiatives are aligned with the related methodologies across Vanguard and within the Operational Controls Program.
3. Develops, implements, and monitors project plans. Contributes expertise to major project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks. Communicates project status and issues regularly to stakeholders, including leaders, team members, and senior managers.
4. Builds and maintains effective relationships. Proactively fosters communication among internal and external stakeholders. Influences key decisions across stakeholder groups.
5. Proactively identifies , manages , and mitigates risks and any related project issues. Communicates solutions on key issues or projects to management and stakeholders to obtain their input and buy-in as appropriate .
6. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this role will excel at these capabilities:
Leverag ing experience with risk and controls to build and maintain a detailed controls methodology while also using conceptual thinking to contribute to the realization of a target state vision.
Ability to independently and proactively drive projects and initiatives forwa rd toward successful outcomes, including presenting (verbally, in writing, and visually) complex topics to a wide variety of stakeholders, using influence as needed.
Ability to be organized, detailed, and methodical while simultaneously operating in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous program environment. Comfort with flexing to changing/competing priorities.
Skill with partnering and building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including the OCP Deployment team and with other methodology (and related ) teams to drive effective mutual outcome s.
Comfort with surfacing new ideas and perspectives , leveraging curiosity and judgment toward developing new solutions and approaches .
Qualifications
+ Minimum of five years related work experience. Financial Services and function-specific experience preferred. Risk and controls experience strongly preferred .
+ Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required . Graduate degree preferred.
+ Rel evant professional risk and control -related certifications are a plus.
