Job Description

We are seeking skilled painters to join our team in undertaking interior painting projects within school facilities. The role demands precision and efficiency, focusing on delivering clean and even finishes in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Prior experience in residential, commercial, or institutional painting is essential. Candidates are required to provide their own tools.

Responsibilities

+ Strip old paint from walls using scrapers and putty knives.

+ Prepare surfaces by caulking cracks, filling holes, and smoothing imperfections.

+ Protect surrounding areas using tarps, drop cloths, and painter’s tape to ensure clean, precise work.

+ Apply new coats of paint using brushes and rollers, ensuring even coverage and a professional finish.

+ Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the project.

+ Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in painting techniques such as brushing, rolling, cutting in, and back rolling.

+ Experience with paint preparation, including sanding and caulking.

+ Ability to use various painting tools such as spray guns, airless sprayers, and HPLV systems.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Prior experience in construction or related fields.

+ Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean work environment.

Work Environment

Candidates will be working Monday through Sunday from 6 am to 6 pm, with 11.5 paid hours. There are two 15-minute paid breaks and a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The work environment is challenging, with no air conditioning in the schools, although cool rooms are available for breaks. As this is a closed site, leaving the property during work hours is not permitted. Painters are required to bring their own basic tools, including brushes, rollers, extension poles, putty knives, and caulk guns.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Rockford, IL - Per diem and hotel is offered for contractors 75+ miles from the city.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
