JOB SUMMARY
Location BSWH BUMC Downtown Dallas TX
Department Lab
Shift Day 11am -730pm
Preferred Experience Must be able to work in all 3 areas of the hospital lab, client services, processing and referrals Strong emphasis on assisting with Bone Marrow collections
The Lab Tech 3 perform phlebotomy, processing, testing and provide clerical support. Collection of other specimens as needed. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and other personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
+ Conducts advanced laboratory procedures where the range of possible errors is limited.
+ Sorts, labels and records patient specimens. Set up specimen, material and equipment in preparation for Medical Technologist to perform test.
+ Operates centrifuge, simplex timers, cell washer and other Laboratory equipment in completing assigned duties.
+ Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
+ Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
+ Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
+ Phlebotomy skills for all age groups.
+ Effective communication with staff and customers.
+ Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions.
+ Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures.
+ Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
+ Knowledge of safety and infection control standards.
+ Ability to work in a team environment.

+ EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
+ EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience
