A master's degree in library science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association.

Job Duties and Other Information

This position serves as a reference librarian and the Assistant Head of the Louisiana Section, a specialized, heavily used library collection. The position requires an extensive knowledge of Louisiana research materials, history, culture, and government, as well as library, management, and supervisory skills. This position requires advanced journeyman skills and knowledge, and this position functions fairly independently with only broad supervision.

Appointment Type:This position will be filled as a promotion; you must be a current permanent employee of the Dept. Of Culture, Recreation, & Tourism, serving in a Classified position, in order to qualify.

Career Progression:This position is in a Career Progression Group to aLibrarian 3. As part of a Career Progression Group,vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Librarian 1, 2, or 3 based on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Work Schedule:The State Library is open from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. This position might be required to work overtime or travel.
