Job Description and Duties
Join the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) and Protect Our Vital Resources as an Information Security Specialist! The California Natural Resources Agency seeks an Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I). Are you passionate about information security? The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Agency Information Security Office. Under the guidance of the Agency Information Security Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting agency information security and privacy programs supporting California’s natural resources and environmental conservation efforts. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your knowledge and skills to an essential state agency protecting California’s natural resources and further your career in information security. Incumbent must maintain confidentiality regarding all information security items, forensics and/or security activities, or any other situations related to IT security issues where discretion is required. Occasional after-hours work scheduled and travel to various offices and locations throughout the State of California may be required. Travel estimated to be 5% or 17 days per year statewide. Under the provisions of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard CIP-004 as part of the Energy Policy of 2005, this position has authorized cyber access to or unescorted physical access around critical cyber assets and is subject to a satisfactory background check prior to appointment and every seven years thereafter. Working Conditions
The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is office-based, which means the incumbent works more than 50 percent of their time from the office headquarters. Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. Occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division.
