    Position Overview:

    Organizes, coordinates, and assists with the day-to-day activities of the infusion pharmacy department in areas of staff supervision, effective intra- and inter-departmental communication, workload assignment and proper allocation of pharmacy resources. Provides timely and accurate pharmaceutical care. Prepares, compounds, packages, labels, and dispenses medication, IV admixture and solutions according to Sutter Health policies, state/ federal regulations, and The Joint Commission standards. Assists with medicine and supplies inventory management and control, including maintaining adequate stock levels, checking accuracy of pricing, and completing required regulatory documentation. Adheres to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control polices to maintain a safe and sterile medication area, clean rooms, and laminar flow hoods. Exhibits proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through training and on-the-job experience. Completes a variety of assignments and projects within department. Provides training, guidance, and support to lower level technicians. Perform one or more advanced level technician work such as serving as a designated person (DP) of the compounding facility per USP compounding chapters, review and improve standard operating procedure/policies related to sterile compounding and/or hazardous drug policy, performs compounding personnel training, competency and evaluations.

    EDUCATION:

    Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program

     

    OR " Met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration"

    CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

    PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician - California State Board of Pharmacy

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

    4 years recent relevant experience

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE** **:

    + Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.

    + Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.

    + Knowledge and ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications.

    + Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

    + Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.

    + Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

    + General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.

    Pay Range is $41.73 to $52.16 / hour

     

    _The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package._
