    Job Description Summary:

    The HIM Quality Technician performs retrospective quality reviews and corrections of scanned documents stored in the EHR/document management system while meeting all productivity standards. This position also resolves errors and assignments to various workbaskets in Solarity.

     

    These tasks require effective critical thinking skills to analyze regulatory requirements, state, and federal laws, including Joint Commission, the 21st Century Cures Act and HIPAA. The HIM Quality Technician must apply this knowledge when evaluating and working several documentation queues requiring deductive reasoning for the purpose of ensuring the documentation is uploaded into the patient’s EHR. This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position also requires working independently with little to no on-site supervision. Data abstraction and computer skills are essential to this role along with excellent customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail are necessary to perform this role successfully. This associate must also be able to perform other duties as assigned by the HIM Directors, HIM Operations Manager or Supervisor.

    Responsibilities And Duties:

    45% Performs quality reviews and document corrections within the document management system. Use technical skills and critical thinking skills to perform corrections to help ensure the accuracy of the patient’s medical record. Search and analyze patient demographics and clinical documentation applying critical thinking skills to discern correct patient information. Follow regulatory standards and HIM best practices along with OhioHealth system policies and procedures.

     

    45% Performs tasks in various workbaskets in Solarity. Use critical thinking skills to determine and index documents appropriately. Assures accurate and timely processing of work queues, error queues, reports, and other tasks unique to each job function. Follow regulatory standards and HIM best practices along with OhioHealth system policies and procedures.

     

    10% Other tasks appointed by supervisor/manager including placing and maintaining communication with IS tickets and escalating issues as needed. Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft office products such as Microsoft Word and Excel for productivity and data tracking of HIM key performance indicators.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School or GED (Required)

    Additional Job Description:

    SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

    Proficient knowledge of Excel & Microsoft Word. Document Management System and EHR experience.
