    Major Gifts Officer

     

    New York Public Radio – home to WNYC, WQXR, WNYC Studios, and The Jerome L. Greene Space – is seeking two Major Gifts Officers.

     

    The Major Gifts Officer is a front-line fundraiser on the New York Public Radio philanthropy team. This is a team in growth mode, as NYPR expands its philanthropy strategy and elevates the major gift portfolio. The gift officer will work in partnership with the VP of Philanthropy and other development and senior staff and trustees to build and maintain relationships with individual donors and prospects who are capable of annual gifts at $25,000 and above, as well as larger multi-year commitments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Portfolio Management

    + Create and execute fundraising and stewardship strategies for a portfolio of approximately 100-125 individual donors for annual gifts of $25,000 and more, as well as multi-year commitments.

    + Implement long- and short-term plans to meet revenue goals for general operating, special project, and campaign funding priorities.

    + Pipeline Management

    + Execute and track moves management for major gift donors and prospects within the MGO’s portfolio, with the goal of increased and new giving.

    + Assist in the development of research strategies, working closely with the senior manager of prospect research.

    + Plan and execute one-on-one meetings, station tours, and other gatherings and points of connection, to further cultivation and stewardship objectives.

    + Proposal Development & Solicitation

    + Partner across development team on the creation of innovative, engaging, and intimate stewardship, communication and solicitation strategies.

    + Establish strong relationships and lines of communication with program staff, working together to create accurate and impact-driven messaging that increases donor awareness and engagement with NYPR’s work.

    Qualifications:

    + Passionate and dynamic storyteller who thrives on building relationships and creating transformative experiences that inspire donors to take action

    + At least 5 years of front-line fundraising experience, preferably managing an active portfolio of individual donors

    + Proven track record of securing gifts of $25,000 and above

    + Experience coordinating volunteer-led fundraising activities

    + Knowledge of NYC philanthropic and cultural communities; classical music experience a plus

    + Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Slack, Zoom, and CRM databases (Salesforce a plus)

    + Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently

    + Highly motivated, organized, flexible, and proactive

    + Strong time- and project-management skills

    + Excellent communication skills—both oral and written

    + Ability to work and collaborate with colleagues within and across department

    + Passion for public media and NYPR’s mission

     

    Additional Information

     

    This is a full-time role with an annual salary range of $85,000 to $95,000. Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. New York Public Radio offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with vacation time, personal days, sick time and parental leave.

     

    This individual is expected to work onsite at WNYC’s New York City office at least 2 days a week.
