    What You'll Do:

    + The station machinist will perform and mentor other members of the crew

    + Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all mechanical components of plant equipment.

    + Diagnose, troubleshoot, align, repair and maintain mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components such as the boiler, turbine generator, pumps, control valves, fans, other rotating equipment and associated piping.

    + Research the activities necessary to correct problems with components, search for root causes of the problem, and pursue activities that will prevent reoccurrences in the future.

    + Operate machine shop and portable machine equipment such as lathes, shapers, drill presses, milling machines, boring bars and similar machining equipment to produce accurate tolerance on all shapes including those not readily machined on standard machine tools. Develop jigs and fixtures as necessary and performing precision fitting of component parts as required. Perform alignment on rotating equipment and other types of equipment.

    + Use monitoring equipment such as vibration and thermal test equipment to assess equipment conditions.

    + Perform all position electric arc and oxyacetylene structural and pipe welding on equipment such as fittings, fans and fan lining, pulverizes, coal pipes, conveyors, tractors, screens, steel structures, heaters, evaporators, brazing work as may be required on such items; metal spray items for wear and abrasion purposes, such as recirculating gas fan runners and wear plates; P.A. fan runners and casings and conveyor pulleys; perform silver soldering such as tubing, piping and common connection. Work requiring the use of and ability of a certified welder is excluded5. Erect and remove scaffolding, rigging and blocking.

    + Operate automotive equipment and its associated equipment and perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment.

    + Prepare and maintain records as required.

    + Possess strong working knowledge of facility specific processes and systems.

    What We're Looking For:

    Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree in an industrial maintenance/mechanical discipline or Certificate or without degree/certificate, at least four years of applicable industrial related experience

     

    Experience: With educational or equivalent requirements as stated above, an additional 10 years of experience as a power plant machinist or other industrial mechanical/machinist experience.

     

    Required License(s)/Certification(s): Must possess the appropriate State driver's license.

    Other Requirements:

    + Successful completion of the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) test is required for this position.

    + Must be willing to work rotating shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays.

    + Minimum long-distance travel required but the inspection of remote equipment is a daily requirement for this position.

    + Must respond to callouts in both outage and non-outage work to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules.

    + Comply with all applicable plant operating instructions and procedures.

    + Comply with the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work environment and report unsafe conditions and practices.

    + Possess a working knowledge of Safety and Environmental guidelines.

    + Properly use the tools and equipment applicable to work duties.

    + Read, interpret and work from simple prints and specifications.

    + Communicate effectively, both verbally and written.

    + Demonstrate professional conduct and effective interactions with employees, contractors and others.

    + Must be willing and able to work inside designated confined space entry areas, elevated areas and in hot and cold temperatures.

    + Must be able to wear respirator when required.

    + Train for firefighting, first aid, AED and other emergency response programs as required.

    + Supervisors will provide written justification and documentation of any candidate who is under consideration for this classification promotion.

    + The documentation will demonstrate the following competencies and will be reviewed and approved management including the Vice President of Generation:

    + Reliability – Candidate must consistently demonstrate that he or she is available when the job requires. This includes an acceptable level of absenteeism and a consistent high response to callouts.

    + Technical Competence – Candidate is a demonstrated subject matter expert.

    + Training Others – Candidate must consistently train other employees. Candidate must recognize, understand and apply different teaching methods to ensure comprehension and understanding of fellow employees. Experience and learning gained by working on systems and equipment should be taught to other team members.

    + Ownership – Candidate must have documented success of taking ownership of and solving problems that are critical to the organization. Strong decision-making skills.

    + Team Leadership – Candidate must demonstrate team organizational skills, lead and motivate individuals to work together as a team with clearly defined goals and measures of success.

    + Project Leadership – Candidate must demonstrate a desire and ability to assume project leadership, bringing together other components of reliability, technical competence, engagement, and team leadership to successfully complete projects.

    Compensation Range:

    $44.75-44.75 USD

     

    The Physical Demand Level for this job is: M – Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
