The Commercial Estimator is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and preparing cost estimates for plumbing & HVAC materials, equipment, and systems for large-scale commercial projects. This role involves collaborating with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and profitable bids for plumbing supplies.
Essential Functions:
Estimate Preparation:
+ Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine the scope of work and materials required.
+ Prepare detailed cost estimates for plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, fixtures, valves, water heaters, and other related components.
+ Utilize software and spreadsheets to create accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.
Supplier and Vendor Coordination:
+ Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotes and pricing information for materials and equipment.
+ Negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
Bid Submissions:
+ Develop and submit competitive bids for materials ensuring compliance with all project specifications and requirements.
+ Work with project managers and sales teams to review proposals and adjust estimates as needed to meet client needs.
Cost Analysis and Reporting:
+ Conduct cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure projects remain within budget.
+ Track and report on cost discrepancies, delays, or changes to project scope that may affect estimates.
Project Support:
+ Provide ongoing support to the sales, operations, and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Assist in resolving any issues related to plumbing material procurement or delivery.
Client Interaction:
+ Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements, answer questions, and adjust estimates as needed.
+ Ensure customer satisfaction by providing accurate estimates, updates, and technical assistance as required.
Documentation and Compliance:
+ Maintain organized records of all estimates, proposals, contracts, and correspondence.
+ Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards in all estimates.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in similar industry sales, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
+ Previous experience in plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical estimating, particularly in a wholesale environment.
+ Strong knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems and materials.
+ Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
+ Proficient with computers and software systems.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
