Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for an Operations Shift Supervisor at its refinery located in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Operations Shift Supervisor is responsible for the management of unit operations and personnel within the assigned Division. The Shift Supervisor leads the performance of shift team personnel to ensure the safe, reliable, and profitable operation of their assigned unit or area in alignment with refinery objectives. The Shift Supervisor supports the development of shift personnel, optimizes unit performance, and drives effective care and monitoring of process equipment. This role will report to the Operations Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities
+ Leads and directs shift in Conduct of Operations including, but not limited to, effective shift relief/start-of-shift meeting, proper job planning, equipment preparation, work permitting and Joint Job Site Visit (JJSV), proactive and effective unit monitoring.
+ Establishes and maintains culture of safety and environmental excellence by modeling appropriate behaviors and ensuring all employees practice good stewardship that impacts themselves, coworkers, and the community.
+ Leads Operators in the safe, efficient, and effective implementation of production plan. Drives implementation and understanding of production plan through communication and vigilance, reporting unit status and constraints, and optimizing unit performance.
+ Supports unit reliability goals through proactive equipment care and condition monitoring. Reviews operator rounds, develops proper mitigation response, and communicates to leadership, as necessary. Ensures equipment prepared for maintenance in timely manner and communicates exceptions.
+ Leads Operator development and performance feedback, providing coaching, redirection and positive correction to address performance concerns.
+ Coordinates response to abnormal situations, including troubleshooting and mitigation or recovery activities, and ensures effective communication to affected units and Operations leadership.
+ Proactively supports HES compliance through participation in incident investigations, Product Quality Audits, and emergency response, and ensures policies and procedures adhere to HES standards.
+ Must have physical ability to perform all essential job duties and work extended hours, including nights and weekends in process operations environment. Work may be conducted during periods of inclement weather. Must have physical ability to access all areas of the refinery including stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment. Must be available to respond to upset conditions during off-hours.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum (Required) Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED)
+ Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
+ A valid driver’s license is required.
+ Minimum five (5) years of experience in Refining Operations
Preferred Qualifications
+ Supervisory experience in Refining Operations
+ Experience in HPD-South Area
