UPMC Presbyterian Ambulatory Surgery Center is hiring a full-time Professional Staff Nurse to join our skilled, compassionate team. If you're looking for a high-impact nursing role with predictable hours and no weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts, this opportunity is for you!

    Schedule:

+ Monday–Friday only — enjoy your weekends and holidays off!

+ 8-hour shifts with rotating start times:

    + 5:00 AM–1:30 PM

    + 9:00 AM–5:30 PM

    + 12:00 PM–8:30 PM

    Why Ambulatory Surgery?

The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) at UPMC Presbyterian is fast-paced, efficient, and patient-centered. We specialize in same-day surgeries, giving patients access to exceptional care without the need for overnight stays. You’ll work alongside a tight-knit team of expert clinicians, where every role is crucial and every voice is valued. We care deeply for our patients — and for each other. Here, your schedule supports work-life balance, and your contributions make an immediate, visible impact.

    What You’ll Do:

As a valued member of our nursing team, you’ll:

+ Use the nursing process within the Relationship-Based Care model to develop personalized care plans and goals for patients

+ Collaborate across disciplines, translating the patient’s condition clearly to all care providers

+ Educate and support patients and families before and after procedures to ensure a safe transition home

+ Mentor and precept students and new hires, sharing your knowledge and encouraging continuous learning

+ Practice strong documentation and communication to promote safe, coordinated care

+ Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement efforts and shared governance

+ Demonstrate accountability for your own professional growth, and contribute to a positive team culture

+ Apply evidence-based practice to improve clinical care and enhance the patient experience

_Applicants will be placed on the UPMC nursing career ladder based on their individual education and experience, with titles and salary aligned accordingly._

+ No nursing experience required, 1 year experience preferred.

+ Mobility and visual manual dexterity required. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

+ Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located*. Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) is sufficient.

+ Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.

+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
