POSITION TITLE: Fitness Instructor (Adult & Forever 55 Classes)

STATUS: Hourly – 1 hour per week for 8–10 weeks per session

DEPARTMENT: Recreation and Community Services

HOURLY RATE: $42.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Township of Plainsboro is seeking an energetic and motivated Fitness Instructor to lead weekly group

fitness classes for adult participants, including our Forever 55 community. Under the direction of the Recreation

Director, the instructor will provide high-quality instruction while ensuring a safe, engaging, and positive

environment for all participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Lead group fitness classes, starting and ending on time.

• Provide clear instruction, examples, and encouragement throughout the session.

• Take attendance for in-person and virtual participants (if applicable).

• Demonstrate proper technique, identify safety risks, and correct form as needed.

• Prepare necessary class equipment, supplies, and music (if applicable).

• Engage with participants, answer questions, and foster a welcoming class environment.

• Communicate facility or participant concerns to front desk staff or program coordinators.

• Ensure compliance with all safety guidelines and facility policies.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Previous experience teaching fitness classes.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Flexible availability, including potential evening or weekend hours.

• Demonstrated ability to handle conflict and enforce facility rules with sound judgment.
