    The English Language Program at Rowan University is seeking qualified part-time adult ESL instructors. The ELP is a year-round university-based intensive academic English program serving adult international and local immigrant students. Our primary goals are to prepare students for university success and help non-native speakers of English improve their English skills. We are looking to hire part-time adult ESL instructors on our Glassboro campus. Courses are taught on an ongoing basis with instructors regularly receiving consistent on-going work throughout the year. However, the courses offered will be based on enrollment and programming needs.

    Our in-person classes run from Monday to Thursday on the following schedule:

    9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

     

    10:40 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.

     

    1:05 p.m. – 2:35 p.m.

     

    Candidates are encouraged to teach two courses minimum.

     

    Qualified candidates must have a Master’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics, or English with qualifications of teaching for an adult audience. A minimum of 1 year teaching academic ESL in an adult education environment is required.

     

    Please note: Having only a K-12 ESL certification is not an applicable qualification for this position.

     

    This position requires flexibility in working with adult international students in an intensive English program. The preferred candidate will have the experience and ability to teach multiple language competencies at all proficiency levels and contribute ideas and creativity to our expanding program.

    Responsibilities include:

    + Teach courses as assigned by the Director and the Lead Instructor.

    + Create course plans and syllabi based on provided curriculum.

    + Attend all mandatory departmental and faculty meetings.

    + Participate in program activities.

    + Work closely with the Director and Lead Instructor to meet students' needs.

    + Fluency in Spanish or Turkish is a plus.

    Rate: $45 per hour

    Hours:

    + This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work hours cannot exceed 25 hours per week and 944 hours per fiscal year. The work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriation.
