    Breaking Ground operates nearly 4,000 units of housing across New York City, along with housing in upstate New York and Connecticut. Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.

     

    But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.

     

    Reporting to the Vice President Government Contract Compliance and Data Strategy, the Assistant Vice President, Data Operations and Strategy is responsible and accountable for managing Breaking Ground’s data as a critical asset of the work; delivering insights that improve decision making and foster innovation, while driving collaboration and collective impact across areas of our work. Critically, this work enables and supports the effective use of data for multiple purposes including impact at the organizational, community, and external levels.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Data operations and stewardship:

    + Primary point of contact for all data and quality assurance needs

    + Manage data tools, workflows, and practices that ensure data is accurate, accessible, and responsibly maintained across the organization

    + Supervise day-to-day design, implementation, and application of analytics methods and techniques

    + Analytics and performance:

    + Transform data into actionable insights and use those insights to monitor, evaluate, and improve organizational outcomes

    + Respond to requests and ensure communication of findings throughout organization

    + Connect data learnings to quality assurance needs

    + Data strategy:

    + Drive the vision for how data supports innovation, alignment, and strategic impact across the organization

    + Manage external data partnerships with research, academic, and other institutions

    + Quality assurance:

    + Manage quality assurance work scopes

    + Identify priority areas to focus efforts within social service programs and property management

    + Responsible for day-to-day operations of Quality Assurance team

    + Spearhead cross-team collaboration within organization

    + Support change leadership to enhance data culture within organization

    + Supervise growing teams

    + Quality Assurance

    + Data Analytics

    + Perform other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred. Educational experience in statistics, data science, data visualization

    + 5 years of experience managing a team

    + Experience and comfort with SQL, programming languages used for data analysis, and data visualization software

    + Ability to read and document data methods in a variety of languages, such as R, Python, SQL

    + Consensus builder, team player, ability to understand and problem solve across a variety of challenges

    + Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives with their teams and achieve outcome measures and deliverables

    + Excellent client service and people skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with executive leadership

    + Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple significant priorities, including complex and time sensitive projects, and the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

    + Highly analytical and a strategic problem solver; ability to use data to forecast performance

    + Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel functions: index matches and pivot tables. Expected to gain proficiency in government and other databases, Real Page, and other software programs/services used by the organization
