Click here for more information on SRC for Firefighters (Secondary) Responsibilities Applies concepts, principles, and theories of fire prevention, control and suppression to ensure fires are safely controlled and extinguished. Ensures training programs, equipment standards, and procedures are sufficient for effective hazardous materials response. Directs fire department CAIRA team in response to chemical emergencies in accordance with the installation CAIRA Plan. Serves as Fire Chief, during the Fire Chief's absence, providing administration and direction of fire prevention and protection programs within a firefighting force. Conveys clear information in the administration and direction of fire protection and prevention programs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Directing the work of firefighter personnel as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; 2. Administering a program concerned with the prevention, inspection, and control of fires and hazardous materials incidents; 3. Directing firefighting activities at the scene of fires or hazardous material incidents; 4. Developing, approving, or implementing training for related to firefighting and hazardous material incident response. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). In addition to the specialized experience above, to qualify for this position, you must possess the following: Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, and HAZMAT Operations certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) AND a National Registry EMT (NREMT) License. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Fire Suppression Hazardous Materials Response Managing Human Resources Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Blue Grass Army Depot. This position serves as Supervisory Firefighter and shares the overall technical and administrative management of the Fire Prevention and Training Programs.
