    _The Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology_** **has an outstanding opportunity open for a** **_Temporary_** **Research Scientist.

     

    The field of research this position is engaged in involves pathology of kidney diseases specifically using electron microscopy techniques, as well as identifying biomarkrers of kidney disease progression.This position supports research projects aiming to discover mechanisms of kidney disease with special focus on Fabry disease and diabetic kidney disease.

    Duties Include:

    Specimen processing (10%)

     

    electron microscopy (10%),

     

    morphometry (10%),

     

    cytospin assay (5%),

     

    cell culture (5%).

     

    The hire will be involved in defining research problems in the field of pathobiology of kidney diseases (10%)

     

    Proposing hypotheses and designing experimental approaches to test those hypotheses (10%)

     

    Planning for conducting the research projects in phase (10%)

     

    Analysis of data (10%)

     

    Developing conclusions from the results and generating new hypothesis (10%)

     

    Presenting the results at local, national or international scientific meeting (5%)

     

    Assisting with grant writing (5%)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science

    Experience can substititute for education

    2 years of basic laboratory skills, basic math skills, knows working with Microsoft Office applications

     

    Light microscopy skills, immunofluorescence microscopy.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    Electron microscopy skills, Adobe Photoshop, molecular biology, morphometry.
