    UW Tacoma has an exciting opening for a Director for Corporate & Foundation Relations. This is a full-time permanent position.

     

    The Director for Corporate & Foundation Relations focuses on securing high-impact gifts from corporate and private foundations to support UW Tacoma. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, the position leads corporate and foundation fundraising efforts across campus.

     

    As a frontline fundraiser, this role partners with Deans, faculty and leaders in academic and student affairs to identify funding opportunities and execute strategic plans that engage foundation and corporate donors in support of university priorities.

     

    This role collaborates closely with UW’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Office of Sponsored Programs and counterparts across UW to coordinate joint proposals and maximize funding opportunities.

    What You Will Do:** **Frontline fundraising (50%)

    •Manage a portfolio of 75-100 major corporate and foundation gift prospects. Create and execute cultivation/solicitation strategies for each corporate and foundation partner.

    •Lead or assist in the preparation of funding proposals for top corporate and foundation prospects, working with appropriate Deans, faculty, academic and student affairs leaders, staff team members, UW Tacoma’s Office of Research, University Advancement’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relationships, and UW Tacoma Advancement colleagues.

    •Conduct a minimum of at least 75 substantive contacts each fiscal year with prospects in the assigned fundraiser portfolio. Partnering with UW Tacoma advancement services team, establish and implement a stewardship plan for corporate and foundation gifts and grants, ensuring that all guidelines and reporting requirements are met and regularly monitored.

    Strategic development and planning (25%)

    •Establish and execute annual and long-range goals, objectives and strategies for UW Tacoma’s Corporate and Foundation Relations efforts. Working in tandem with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, provide strategic leadership to the Deans, faculty, academic and student affairs leaders, staff team members, UW Tacoma’s Office of Research, and administrators in designing and implementing programs to sustain and increase corporate and foundation support.

    •Understand and utilize the holistic Corporate Relations model in developing corporate relations strategy, leveraging cross campus and Advancement partnerships to support corporate philanthropic giving, individual major gifts and alumni and friend engagement opportunities.

    •Provide responsive and well-informed advice regarding corporate and foundation funding sources and solicitation strategies to the Deans, faculty, academic and student affairs leaders, staff team members and administrators.

    Program development and management (25%)

    •Coordinate corporate and foundation fundraising and stewardship activities with UW Tacoma’s senior leadership, Deans, faculty, academic and student affairs leaders, staff team members and administrators.

    •Address and mitigate compliance issues related to corporate and foundation relations, including conflicts of interest, classification of gifts and grants and UW gift policy.

    •Coordinate and manage travel logistics for campus leadership, Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and faculty members and staff for meetings with prospective and existing corporate and foundation donors.

    •Initiate and/or participate in the development of policies, procedures and best practices related to the Advancement’s corporate and foundation relations program.

    •Create marketing materials as needed for corporate and foundation relations activities.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor’s Degree AND minimum of five years of experience in institutional advancement, with an emphasis on securing grants of $50,000 or more from corporations and private foundations, preferably in a college or university setting.

     

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **What You Bring:

     

    •Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising with expertise in identifying and securing corporate and foundation gifts and grants.

    •Strong written and verbal communication. Ability to write concisely and persuasively.

    •Demonstrated advanced data analysis skills.

    •Self-starter focused on creating positive external and internal relationships.

    •Ability to understand and articulate academic values and priorities working collaboratively with Deans, faculty, academic and student affairs leaders, staff team members and administrators.

    •Strong project management and cross- collaborative team leadership experience.

    What You Can Expect:

    •Ability to work evenings and weekend hours, as necessary, or on short or limited notice.

    •Must have regular and reliable transportation for local travel and willing to travel when necessary.

    •Frequent local travel expected.
