Job Summary
The University of Utah Office for Sustainability Education ( OSE ) promotes the integration of sustainability principles, ideas and action into university education and the student experience outside the classroom. The OSE seeks an Connection and Belonging Coordinator to increase campus engagement by connecting students, faculty, and staff with programs and events that promote climate action and create a culture of environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
The Connection and Belonging Coordinator will plan and implement events and associated activities that reflect the U’s commitment to student success, both inside and outside the classroom. These activities will primarily engage the university community to learn about the many facets of sustainability and participate in climate action. This role is responsible for the development and execution of OSE events, including managing a budget, reporting data, coordinating logistics, and providing mentorship and management of student employees.
Responsibilities
1. Develops and implements program goals and objectives that adhere to the OSE mission, vision, and values.
2. Mentors and manages student employees.
3. Coordinates and plans events with colleagues and other university partners.
4. Manages event logistics, including but not limited to set-up, personnel management, vendor contracts, rental, etc.
5. Oversees daily program operations and coordinates program activities.
6. Recruits and manages volunteers where appropriate.
7. Monitors program quality and effectiveness through reported metrics and researches best practices.
8. Establishes program budget; monitors and approves related expenditures and ensures budget goals are met.
9. Advises staff, students and others regarding program policies, goals and related technical issues.
10. Prepares reports, financial statements and records on program status and progress for management and outside agencies.
11. Assigns, directs and reviews work of student support staff.
12. Serves on committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus one year of directly related experience
Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
