Start Date - August 28, 2025 for approximately 8-10 weeksQUALIFICATIONS:NYSED Certification: School Social WorkerEducation: Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.Experience: Two years direct experience in the field preferred. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Provide social work outreach services to students and parents. This may include home visits and may necessitate some evening commitments at times.
+ Provide resources to school staff related to families in need and collaborate with community agencies to provide assistance (i.e., County Departments of Social Services, Community Mental Health Centers, etc.).
+ Provide individual and group counseling services for students.
+ Participate in building “At-Risk” Teams and provide follow-up services as necessary in cooperation with other District professionals.
+ Complete social histories for the CSE process and receive and evaluate counseling referrals from the CSE.
+ Compile relevant background information on students from family, teachers, and other collateral persons and agencies, to assist in the counseling process.
+ Assist parents and/or students in identifying and finding ways to overcome barriers to school attendance, social functioning and achievement.
+ Maintain contact with teachers, families, and other collaterals regarding progress of and conditions impacting student functioning.
+ Respond to crisis situations with immediate crisis intervention and assist teachers with recurrent types of crises. Serve on building crisis response team.
+ Possess knowledge of community agencies offering consortium of support services (including services for those with disabilities).
+ Provide casework services to parents to enable them to channel their concerns to other school personnel about their child’s school experiences.
+ Set goals/objectives, monitor progress by maintaining appropriate records of counseling/collateral contacts, and measure outcomes of each student involved in counseling.
+ Attend CSE meetings and Parent/Teacher conferences as needed to provide relevant information on students.
+ Serve as contact person for community groups who wish to provide special service for persons in need.
+ Assist administrators and other staff members in planning and participating in appropriate educational support programs for parents and teachers.
+ Speak to community groups and provide professional development when requested.
+ Remain informed of the current educational trends and practices in this area.
+ Perform related duties as may be assigned by Building Principal and Assistant to the Superintendent for Inclusive Education.
