Position Summary:
Reporting to the Intramural and Club Sports Manager, the Head Sailing Coach is responsible for effectively managing and operating all aspects of the Coed & Women’s Sailing Programs. This includes on-the-water coaching at practices and regattas, developing student-athletes, recruiting, maintenance of team assets, administrative duties, and coordinating with the Fordham University Sailing Team Executive Board on engagement and team activities.
This position supports all efforts to continue to attract the top sailors to Fordham University. This position requires traveling and occasional weekend work hours.
Essential Functions:
Recruits academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes to Fordham.
Communicates effectively and fosters positive relations with student-athletes and members of the Fordham community, including faculty, staff, donors, alumni, and parents.
Demonstrates ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum of three (3) years coaching experience with a competitive club, high school or collegiate program.
Must maintain current AED / CPR & First Aid certification.
Valid US driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Social media experience.
Prior experience with video editing software.
Prior collegiate coaching & recruiting experience preferred (and/or a combination of coaching & competitive sailing experience).
Competitive collegiate and/or international sailing experience. US Sailing Level I Certification, Level 2 Certification.
Substantial dinghy racing and team racing experience.
Experience and strong knowledge base in Collegiate style fleet racing and team racing.
Minimum Salary: $80,000
Maximum Salary: $100,000
