What you'll do...

About the Smart TV Engineering Team

Our team is passionate about building high-performance, reliable software for embedded systems. We collaborate across UI, Middleware, and Hardware layers to deliver seamless video and audio experiences. As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll play a key role in driving technical excellence and innovation, directly impacting Walmart’s digital entertainment strategy.

What You’ll Do

+ Design, develop, and test embedded software for Smart TV platforms

+ Integrate and optimize video/audio features across device layers

+ Ensure quality and performance for diverse video streams and codecs

+ Develop unit and system-level tests in a BDD framework

+ Mentor and train junior engineers

What You’ll Bring

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

+ 10+ years of embedded software development experience

+ Expertise in C/C++ (C++17+) and embedded system architecture

+ Experience with RTOS/Linux-based systems and resource management

+ Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills

+ (Preferred) Knowledge of Smart TV standards, HAL, audio/video processing, BDD frameworks, and modern C++ design patterns

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
