Posting Description
DIRECTOR OF EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENT, Sandbox Innovation Program, to lead efforts to engage the MIT Sandbox innovation and entrepreneurship model globally; work closely with the Executive Director to build partnerships with universities worldwide to strengthen opportunities for MIT students pursuing innovation in international markets and to help other institutions develop similar programs; play a key role in advancing MIT Sandbox’s global reach by fostering relationships that extend the program’s educational, innovation, and entrepreneurship infrastructure; and further the mission of MIT and MIT Sandbox to drive global impact through knowledge sharing and strategic collaborations with partner organizations around the world. MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund provides seed funding for student-led entrepreneurial ventures, mentorship from within MIT and a broad external network, and customized educational experiences.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a minimum of seven years of industrial experience including a combination of management and technical involvement in the business; highly motivated and dedicated with strong organizational and interpersonal skills; extensive innovation and entrepreneurship experience; a track record of building programs across academic, industrial, and business organizations; willingness to go above and beyond in order to achieve the required goals. PREFERRED: Master’s degree in business management or technical PhD degree and experience working with potential startups from university environments; start-up experience in multiple areas including fundraising, governance, management, IP strategy and technical contributions; demonstrated project management skills including workflow and budgets; ability to manage groups and projects across multiple geographic locations; proficiency in building programs and creating the infrastructure and partnerships to support programs; proficiency in making oral and written presentations. Will work flexible hours and travel once or twice per month.
This is a 3-year term position with the possibility of extension.
