POSITION DETAILS
The State University of New York Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), administered by New York City College of Technology/ CUNY, provides tuition-free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents. BEOC equips adult learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve academic success, secure gainful employment, and attain economic self-sufficiency. BEOC is accepting applications for the EOC Director of Enrollment and Student Services.
The Director of Enrollment and Student Services serves as the chief student services officer of the Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center and is a key member of the senior leadership team, both internally and in external forums. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role provides strategic leadership, supervision, and direction for all student-facing functions and departments including:
Recruitment and Admissions
Community Outreach
Student Records and Registrar
Student Support Advisement
Career Services Unit
College Connections Initiative (CCI)
Student Life and Development
Student Support Services (including counseling referrals, disability accommodations, wellness initiatives, and crisis intervention)
The Director is responsible for ensuring a high-quality, student-centered experience that supports enrollment, retention, college transition, personal development, and workforce outcomes. The Director’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
+ Manage the delivery of a variety of student services, including outreach, admissions, student support advisement, crisis intervention, college and job placement.
+ Lead and integrate Student Support Services into the institutional model, including support for mental health referrals, food insecurity, housing insecurity, ADA accommodations, and emergency support resources.
+ Provide oversight and compliance for Student Records and Registrar operations including enrollment verifications, transcripts, data integrity, and student documentation, and implement policies and procedures to improve the delivery of those services.
+ Create innovative approaches to addressing student needs through wraparound support and early alert systems, and lead inter-departmental programs to increase student success, persistence, and retention.
+ Direct student life and development activities, including orientation, workshops, events, and graduation, and serve as chair of selected committees.
+ Interface with academic departments, faculty, student services staff, and student groups to assess needs and develop appropriate student support and development programs.
+ Direct planning, evaluation, assessment, and marketing of Enrollment, Student Support, and Student Services departments.
+ Stay abreast and ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulations as they relate to students, including FERPA, ADA, and Title IX; investigate student incidents and direct student discipline in order to facilitate due process.
+ Provide for staff development and training in trauma-informed care, student engagement, and equity-centered advising.
+ Assist in developing and managing department budget
Flexibility to work day, evening or weekend hours as needed is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Master’s degree in student personnel administration, higher education, counseling, social work, public administration, or a related field preferred
+ Extensive prior experience in student services, enrollment management, student support services, or higher education administration is essential
+ Demonstrated managerial experience in related areas
+ Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
+ Knowledge of legal issues and policies related to student affairs, including FERPA, ADA, and Title IX
+ Experience working with non-traditional, adult learners and individuals with academic, socio-emotional, or economic challenges
+ Proven ability to develop and implement student-centered programs with measurable outcomes
+ Record of successful internal and external collaborations with education, health, and community-based partners
+ Customer service orientation with ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse student populations
+ Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office Suite applications
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Oversees the planning, program development, and administration of student-related programs for an Educational Opportunity Center (EOC).
- Develops plans for, and leads a variety of student programs and services, such as recruitment, admissions, retention, student activities, job placement, and community outreach
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the portfolio of student services in supporting EOC goals; oversees data collection, tracking, and reporting systems
- Partners with appropriate EOC units to institute enrollment and retention plans which provide services to students and applicants in an efficient and effective manner
- Hires, supervises, and evaluates staff; actively develops opportunities for staff development and growth
- Oversees departmental budget(s) and advises on allocation of funds
- Serves as a member of the senior leadership team of the EOC, both internally and in outside forums
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$96,602- $124,656. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09%, with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/01/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/01/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
