Job Summary and Qualifications
The Clinical Pharmacist Supervisor is responsible for developing, supervising and coordinating all the activities of sterile and non-sterile compounding following USP 795, 797, and 800 standards to meet legal, accreditation, and certification requirements. Oversees medication compounding, workflow, supplies, the competency of staff and the required documentation. Ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal services; facilitates safe medication use; complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the organization.
+ Assumes authority, accountability and responsibility for the formal and informal direction of others.
+ Responsible for the initial and ongoing competency of staff involved in sterile and non-sterile compounding and the required documentation to support it.
+ Responsible for assuring required documentation involving sterile and non-sterile compounding is readily available and takes action when non-compliance or issues are identified.
+ Uses Measurement and analysis with objectivity and foresight to make decisions.
+ Accountable for maintaining and improving own job knowledge and skills through continuing education and professional involvement.
+ Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary for supervision of care of patients.
+ Knowledgeable of general safety and risk management procedures and responds appropriately to emergency situations, including fire, disaster and clinical emergencies.
+ Demonstrates the ability to create, initiate, and integrate new concepts and practices to improve patient care and/or employee satisfaction.
+ Reviews and updates policies and SOPs annually and as needed.
+ Requests assistance in the decision-making process and problem solving process as necessary.
+ Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols
+ Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
+ Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy or PharmD. ASHP residency preferred.
+ Hospital pharmacy experience and pharmacy operations preferred. Leadership/supervisory experience (that may include committees, project management, or other experience that demonstrates leadership capability) preferred.
+ Registered pharmacist and licensed in the State of Florida. National certification preferred.
